Emi is the captain of the crew. Through intense study, she aced an exam that allowed her entry into the Republic's naval academy. She'd rather be doing most anything else, but she feels responsible for defending her home from pirates. Besides, she's the only one who can (kind of) keep Jiayun under control.

Everything is easy for Jiayun, who learns new skills in a day that would take others years to master. As such, she is always in pursuit of ways to keep life interesting — typically by partying, bothering Emi, and flirting with anything that moves. The sole survivor of a shipwreck from a faraway land.

Together with Emi and Jiayun, Taelun was raised in the remote village of Taiyat on the frontier of the Republic of Samyu. Having practiced horsemanship from an early age, he's the party's scout and has a natural affinity for working with animals. An amateur cook and the victim of many of Jiayun's pranks.
